Casa Colombia – Rio 2016 Olympics
Bringing a nation’s soul to the world’s biggest sporting stage.
The Context: As part of the creative team at Sistole (BBDO), I was tasked with a high-stakes challenge: designing the physical manifestation of the "Colombia Country Brand" during the Rio de Janeiro Olympic Games. We had to transform a blank venue into an immersive cultural embassy that served as a sanctuary for athletes and a vibrant window for the world.
The Strategy: Spatial Identity & Rhythm. The goal was to move beyond clichés. We didn’t just want to show Colombia; we wanted visitors to feel it. My role focused on Environmental Graphic Design, where I translated intangible cultural heritage into a cohesive visual system.
Immersion at Scale: I designed large-format graphics and murals that integrated the brand's DNA into the architecture, creating a seamless flow between the exhibition areas and the main stage.
Intuitive Wayfinding: Developed a navigation system that balanced functional clarity with the "vibrant spirit" of the brand, guiding thousands of international visitors through a multi-sensory journey.
Touchpoint Consistency: From the grand entrance to the smallest promotional collateral, every detail was curated to reinforce national pride and modern Colombian identity.
The Impact: A "home away from home" that hosted global press, dignitaries, and fans, successfully positioning Colombia as a modern, creative, and welcoming powerhouse on the international stage.
